Meditation on Salvation

Like water spilled on the ground,
which cannot be recovered,
so we must die.
But God does not take away life;
instead, he devises ways
so that a banished person may not remain estranged from him.
                                              2 Samuel 14:14

All that the Father giveth me shall come to me;
and him that cometh to me
I will in no wise cast out
                                              John 6: 37

And when he came to himself, he said,
How many hired servants of my father's have bread enough and to spare,
and I perish with hunger!
I will arise and go to my father,
and will say unto him,
       Father,
I have sinned against heaven, and before thee,
And am no more worthy to be called thy son:
make me as one of thy hired servants.
                                                Luke 15:17-19

Come unto me,
all ye that labor and are heavy laden,
and I will give you rest.

The anchor holds - Paul's Testimony

And when it was determined that we should sail into Italy,
they delivered Paul and certain other prisoners unto one named Julius,
a centurion of Augustus' band.

Now when much time was spent,
and when sailing was now dangerous,
because the **fast was now already past,

**the public fast as prescribed by the Mosaic Law
and kept yearly on the great day of atonement,
the tenth of the month of Tisri
(the month Tisri comprises a part of our September and October);
the fast accordingly, occurred in the autumn
when navigation was usually dangerous on account of storms

Paul admonished them,And said unto them,
"Sirs,
I perceive that this voyage will be with hurt and much damage,
not only of the lading and ship, but also of our lives."

And when neither sun nor stars in many days appeared,
and no small tempest lay on us,
all hope that we should be saved was then taken away.

But after long abstinence Paul stood forth in the midst of them, and said,

"Sirs, ye should have hearkened unto me,
and not have loosed from Crete,
and to have gained this harm and loss.

And now I exhort you to be of good cheer:
for there shall be no loss of any man's life among you,
but of the ship.

For there stood by me this night the angel of God,
whose I am, and whom I serve,

Saying,
"Fear not, Paul;
thou must be brought before Caesar:
and, lo, God hath given thee all them that sail with thee."

Wherefore- [for this reason], sirs,
be of good cheer: for I believe God,
that it shall be even as it was told me.

Where is your father ?

Again therefore, Jesus spoke to them, saying:

I am the light of the world.
He that follows me walks not in darkness,
but shall have the light of life.

The Pharisees therefore said to him:
You give testimony of yourself.
Your testimony is not true.

Jesus answered and said to them:
Although I give testimony of myself,
my testimony is true:
for I know whence I came and whither I go.

You judge according to the flesh: I judge not any man.
And if I do judge, my judgment is true:
because I am not alone, but I and the Father that sent me.
And in your law it is written that the testimony of two men is true.
I am one that give testimony of myself:
and the Father that sent me gives testimony of me.

They said therefore to him:
Where is your Father?

Jesus answered:
Neither me do you know, nor my Father.
If you did know me, perhaps you would know my Father also.

20 These words Jesus spoke in the treasury, teaching in the temple: and no man laid hands on him, because his hour was not yet come."
